Systematic review of the effectiveness of infection control measures to prevent the transmission of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae through cross-border transfer of patients
Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae are associated with an increase of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Identifying effective infection control measures is an important step in order to prevent patients from becoming colonised or infected with these multidrug-resistant organisms. The goal of this systematic review is to update the 2011 ECDC risk assessment. Evidence from this review will be used to develop guidance on this topic.
